Who is the course for?
For those currently working as a Security Guard or those wishing to begin working as a Security Guard. On successful completion of the course, and passing the required examinations, delegates will be able to apply for an SIA licence to work as a Security Guard.

How long is the course?
3 Days.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to the course, however the minimum age requirement for entry into this course is 18.
You will be asked to bring along Identification documents (drivers licence, passport) and proof of address (utility bill, bank statement etc) along with 3 passport size pictures.

Training
The recognised SIA qualification consists of two units: In order to apply for an SIA licence, delegates must complete and pass both units as outlined below and if succesful will achieve a level 2 award in Security Guarding.
Unit 1 - Core Training for Security industry operatives(10 Hrs)
This unit covers the following topics:
- Basic awareness of Legislation in the Private Security Industry
- Health and Safety pertaining to security.
- Fire Safety Awareness
- Emergency Procedures
- Introduction to the Private Security Industry
- Communication Skills and Customer Care
Unit 2 - Security Guarding Specialist Module(8 Hrs)
This unit covers the following topics:
- Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of Security Officers
- Patrolling
- Access and Egress Control
- Searching
- Technology and Systems in the Security Enviroment
- The Security Officer and The Law
- Communicating, Reporting and Record Keeping
Unit 3 – Communication & Conflict Management
Aim: To ensure that Security Officer have the appropriate communication skills and knowledge of conflict management
This unit covers the following topics:
- Introduction to Communication Skills and Conflict Management
- Application of Communication Skills and Conflict Management
