This PTLLS/1886 course lasts six days and is suitable for staff training on your own premises. We also run courses open to individuals at our own training centres in UK.

The course is nationally recognised and a certificate from City and Guilds is awarded to all those who reach the required standard.

The Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is for candidates who:

  • would like or require an introduction to teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector or
  • are seeking career progression within their area of work or
  • will are seeking to work towards ATLS/QTLS/DTLLS status or
  • teach on a one-to-one or group basis or
  • teach either private or non publicly funded courses or
  • intend to be trainers in industry, commerce or the post-16 sector
Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this PTLLS teaching qualification training course, but candidates must have a qualification or experience in their subject skill at the appropriate level.

Due the nature of the course candidates should have the ability to manage the requirements including, reading and interpreting written assignments, ability to write answers in a legible and understandable form.  Candidates need to be able to organise written information clearly.

After this PTLLS course, candidates should be able to:

Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching

Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area

Demonstrate session planning skills

Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners

Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

PTLLS 7303 - City and Guilds - London - QTLS - Training

1886 Course Content

• A distance learning phase, during which delegates conduct home study of the reference material
• A workplace project, completed during the home study phase
• Three day course to develop the knowledge gained during study and to practice scenario-based learning techniques

The course will be delivered over three consecutive days,
culminating in a 40 question multiple-choice test.

There are two units for this qualification:

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles of Conflict Management

  • Assess and reduce the risk of violence in the work environment.
  • Identify behaviour that indicates an escalation towards violence and take appropriate measures to avoid or calm and defuse the situation.
  • Identify post incident support and report the circumstances to provide information for personal and organisational learning.
  • Demonstrate their ability to apply knowledge and understanding of Conflict Management into a variety of practical settings.

Unit 2 – Designing and delivering Conflict Management scenarios

  • Design relevant and effective scenarios for training in Conflict Management
  • Deliver and debrief interactive and scenario based sessions in the context of Conflict Management training.
